I Hate Boxes

I have a love/hate relationship with these suckers.
If one is being handed to me by, lets say, UPS or a friend, then I probably love it - especially if it's around holiday time. However, it is a completely different story when YOU are the one putting the stuff in 'em - and it's not even new, exciting stuff - it your old, crappy stuff. Then you've got a box-filled apartment and the only thing you have to look forward to doing with them is carrying each one down three flights of stairs and into a big ole truck, only to drive three hundred miles to take them out again. Not so exciting.
Now, I usually consider myself somewhat of a minimalist....don't like to keep stuff I don't like anymore or don't need. Thought I was doing a reasonably good job at keeping clutter away, but I had a rude awakening as soon as the boxes were broken out. Now I'm up to my eyeballs in boxes and I've pretty much abandoned my organization method that I started early on in this moving process and I've started just throwing stuff in, at and around random boxes. No labels. No marking on the side. At this point, I care very little about keeping the ones marked "Fragile" safe or caring if I'll even be able to find any of my stuff after this move is over. I've fallen into the "Moving Abyss". You lose your soul there, and probably tons of your old crappy stuff. Next time, I'm hiring a professional mover to come do all this for me and I'm going on vacation....Yeah, right.
